We meet Friday on the HarborWalk boardwalk — charter boats coming in through East Pass, that working-harbor smell of diesel and fried grouper — and we give Saturday to Henderson Beach State Park, where the sand really is that white and the water really is that green. No itinerary tyranny. A table at night. Home on Sunday with salt still in your hair.
How the days go
Friday late afternoon
Arrive and walk HarborWalk Village. Watch the charter fleet come in. First drinks facing Destin Harbor — not a reservation, a reunion.
Saturday
Henderson Beach State Park for as long as the light holds. Picnic, swim, sea oats, no agenda. The park is east of Destin proper, off Scenic Highway 98 — sugar sand, a little more hush than the condo beaches.
Saturday evening
Back to the harbor or a quiet table in Destin. The group decides when it’s hungry. HarborWalk lights up after dark.
Sunday
Slow coffee. One last look at the gulf. Depart whenever the car is packed.
